Today’s Topic: Bless Your Enemies

Scripture: David asked, “Is there anyone still left of the house of Saul to whom I can show kindness for Jonathan’s sake?” – 2 Samuel 9:1, NIV

Today’s Word
For several years before David became the king of Israel, King Saul had pursued him in the wilderness, trying to kill him. Yet David remained loyal to Saul and refused to try to pay him back. Fast forward years ahead to when King David was in his later years, enjoying the amazing success and favor God had given him and asking today’s Scripture. You can imagine his men saying, “David, have you forgotten that Saul was your enemy?” David was saying, in effect, “In spite of what he did, I want to bless anyone left in his family.”

No wonder David was called “a man after God’s own heart.” Jesus says we are to love our enemies, do good to and bless those who hate us, and pray for those who mistreat us. Will you love somebody who hasn’t been good to you? Will you let go of the anger, the resentment, and the bitterness and bless and be good to them? When you do, you’re the kind of person whom God can entrust with greatness and use for His highest purposes.

Prayer For Today
“Father, thank You for the mercy and forgiveness and protection You have shown me when I’ve done wrong. Help me to do good and to bless those who have done me wrong. I am leaving them in Your hands and giving them the grace that allows for change. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.”

INSPIRATIONAL MESSAGE: Before you were formed in your mother’s womb, God lined up specific things for you to accomplish. He’s already planned out times when you’ll step into favor, opportunity, talent, abundance that you didn’t see coming. You may go through some holding seasons—times where you feel stagnate and nothing’s changing—but there will be a time when God says, “I have need of you.”

God has these destiny moments where He needs you to fulfill the divine purpose that He’s already established. You’re not here by accident. You’re here on assignment. The Creator of the Universe has plans for you.

You may feel restricted today. In some area of your life, you’re being held back. You wonder why things aren’t changing, why doors aren’t opening. You have so much more in you, but you’re not using your gifts. It’s easy to get frustrated, but God can see things you can’t see. He has plans for you that you’ve never thought of. If you knew what He has in store, you would wait for His plan to unfold.

Be your best when you’re not getting your way. Stay in faith when you seem stagnate and things aren’t improving. Keep reminding yourself that you’re not restricted; you’re reserved. God has set you apart for something greater.
